Dario Brizuela signed a contract extension with FC Barcelona, the team announced on Thursday.
The new deal extends his commitment until the end of the 2027-28 season.
Per the press release: “Darío Brizuela has signed a new contract with Barça. The Basque shooting guard, who joined two seasons ago from Unicaja Málaga, still had one year remaining on his current deal, which has now been restructured to extend for three more seasons. So we’ll be seeing Darío at the Palau for a good while yet.
30 years old and 1.89 metres tall, the player has just completed his best season in a Barça jersey. After a first year with less playing time (partly due to the presence of Nico Laprovittola and, later, Ricky Rubio, who ‘took’ minutes from him) Brizuela’s second season has been a strong one.
Punter’s sidekick
Laprovittola’s serious injury gave him a much more prominent role. His strong chemistry with Kevin Punter has made him the American’s best sidekick, even sharing the court with him when Brizuela stepped in to help at point guard due to injuries.
In this second season, the Barça number 8 recorded the following stats:
Liga Endesa
35 games played
9.6 points
2.8 assists
1.6 rebounds
EuroLeague
36 games played
10 points
2.2 assists
1.4 rebounds”
Expected to soon announce more summer signings, including Tornike Shengelia, Barca has already officially added Myles Cale and Juani Marcos to the team coached by Joan Penarroya, preparing for the 2025-26 installments of the EuroLeague and Spain’s Liga Endesa.
