After a one-year stint with Baskonia in the 2022-23 season, being named to the All-EuroLeague Second Team, Darius Thompson is returning to Spain and to the ACB League.

The American playmaker with an Italian passport has officially signed with Valencia Basket, continuing to play in the EuroLeague next to Jean Montero.

Thanks to the tanteo rights rule, the team from the Basque Country had the possibility of matching Valencia‘s offer, potentially bringing him back to Vitoria. However, they opted to not do it.

The former Brindisi and Lokomotiv Kuban player has now signed a three-year deal with Pedro Martinez’s team, making his comeback to the ACB League.

In his past two years with Anadolu Efes, brought to Istanbul to first be Vasilije Micic’s replacement next to Shane Larkin, Darius Thompson hasn’t been able to return to the high standard produced in Vitoria.

Last season, he posted 9.5 points, 4.5 assists, and 2.0 rebounds in the EuroLeague. Efes made it to the playoffs, being eliminated 3-2 by then-defending champion Panathinaikos.
