While Gytis Radzevicius extended his contract with Rytas Vilnius, continuing to compete in the Basketball Champions League, Azuolas Tubelis moved to Kaunas.
The Lithuanian forward officially joined Zalgiris on a 2+1 deal, replacing the departing Alen Smailagic, who moved away from Lithuania to sign with Virtus Bologna.
“Playing in the EuroLeague has always been my goal and dream. I have been striving for this since childhood, so I could not pass up this opportunity,” Tubelis first said.
“I am joining a top-level organization that is renowned for its professionalism, traditions, and an incredibly passionate fan community,” the Lithuanian forward then added.

Competing until the end in the LKL Finals against the green-and-white side, he put up 12.7 points and 6.0 rebounds per game in Lithuania last season. He was named LKL MVP the previous year.
“I am not the first Vilnius player to change teams and come to Kaunas; I know that this step will be met with mixed reactions, but I am determined to prove with my work and play that I am worthy of being here,” the former Rytas Vilnius player also commented.
“Competition has always been one of the biggest driving forces for me. It makes me move forward, strive for more, and never stand still,” Tubelis added.
“I am looking forward to starting a new stage, I am ready to accept all the challenges that await me and focus only on a positive future with Žalgiris,” he finally concluded on the team’s website.
