Despite being at the center of multiple departure rumors, Daniel Theis will still be with AS Monaco next season.

Monaco’s manager, Oleksiy Yefimov, confirmed the news to Nice Matin.

Daniel was under contract with us for next season. He had an NBA exit clause that expired, so the deal is now guaranteed for the Roca Team. We are counting on him a lot. Daniel feels great in Monaco. He is one of our best players and fits perfectly with coach Spanoulis’s style of play.”

Roca Team reportedly rejected offers from other European clubs, and the NBA option expired on July 15. The club also received confirmation that Theis’s knee injury from the playoffs is no longer a concern.

Monaco is continuing its transfer business, with another positive development being the return of Yoan Makoundou, described by club president Aleksey Fedorychev as “ready to play a real role for Monaco.”

Big things are coming. We fell short last season. It was painful, but it only drives us to come back stronger,” Fedorychev told Nice Matin.

Among those “big things” is Nikola Mirotić, the former EuroLeague MVP, who was recently spotted in a restaurant with Fedorychev.

Yes, we are finalizing the last details. I would very much like to see Nikola wearing the Roca Team jersey, and I think the feeling is mutual,” Monaco’s president concluded.
