Following Oleksiy Yefimov’s words to Nice Matin, it looked like Daniel Theis’ future was secured in the Principality, and that the German center was excited to continue in red-and-white.
“Daniel was under contract with us for next season. He had an NBA exit clause that expired, so the deal is now guaranteed for the Roca Team,” AS Monaco’s General Manager first said.
“We are counting on him a lot. Daniel feels great in Monaco. He is one of our best players and fits perfectly with coach Spanoulis’s style of play,” he then added.
However, just a few hours afterwards, Daniel Theis shared on his Instagram stories Eurohoops’ article containing such declarations, quoting “Daniel feels great in Monaco”, and then adding “The truth will be told”, sharing a cryptic message to add even more mystery around his future.
In the past few years, Real Madrid and Partizan Belgrade reportedly showed interest in the German center’s situation, trying to boost their frontcourts.
Since returning to the EuroLeague, Daniel Theis has put up 9.9 points and 4.7 rebounds. With AS Monaco, he went only one win away from winning the EuroLeague Championship.
