Initially, a three-city race to host the 2026 EuroLeague Final Four with Athens, Belgrade, and Valencia, ultimately it went down to the first two competing to host the event.
Today, the EuroLeague Board first voted to decide whether the most anticipated event of the season will be held in Greece or will return to the Serbian capital.
However, a final decision wasn’t delivered, with the vote being postponed to September.
OAKA, which hosted the Final Four in 2007, previously made a strong push with both the Mayor of Athens and the Attica region governor meeting personally with EuroLeague President Dejan Bodiroga.
Belgrade, instead, already hosted the event both in 2018 and 2022, respectively, with Real Madrid and Anadolu Efes coming out on top.
