After playing for the Charlotte Hornets, New Orleans Pelicans, and San Antonio Spurs in the NBA since 2018, Devonte Graham will make his debut in European basketball in the upcoming season.
The American point guard signed a deal with Serbian powerhouse Crvena Zvezda and shared his excitement about this new chapter in his career.
“I’m excited. I took a little break to think about where I would play next, and I think my agent and I made the right decision,” Graham said to the club’s official YouTube channel.
He also spoke about his expectations of European basketball.
“I don’t expect a big difference between the NBA and European basketball. The fans are great, the competitiveness is at a high level, and every game really matters here.”
Apparently, Codi Miller-McIntyre played a role in Graham’s arrival in Belgrade.
“We’re actually from the same state. When he heard Zvezda sent me an offer, he called me straight away and talked about the city of Belgrade, the fans and their atmosphere, and what it feels like to play for this team. So, in the end, he was recruiting me to join — but I’m glad he did. I can’t wait to play. I’m excited.”
Graham will wear No. 4 at Crvena Zvezda, a number worn by Miloš Teodosić for the past two seasons.
“It’s definitely an honor. Shout-out to him — he’s a legend, everybody loves him. I’m honored to be able to come in right after him and wear that number. So, I’m excited. No pressure, but I’m blessed to be able to wear it,” Graham concluded.
