Nadir Hifi expects to assume a much bigger role with Paris Basketball next season in light also of several roster changes, including TJ Shorts leaving the team for Panathinaikos Athens.
“It’s a logical choice, even though many players have left, because the project suits me perfectly,” Hifi said to BeBasket about staying with Paris. “T.J.’s departure opens a lot of doors for me, I’ll have a lot more responsibilities. It might be up to me to win and show that I can carry the team on my back.”
Hifi is one of the few 2024-25 core players and the only starter of Paris that stayed for the upcoming season amid a wave of departures. The 23-year-old guard averaged 16.6 points and 2.3 assists last season as the French side during a Cinderella run for the French side that made the EuroLeague playoffs in its maiden season in the competition.
After a standout invidiual run for himself, Hifi was called to join the French national team training camp for the 2025 EuroBasket.
“I can maintain my identity with Les Bleus, even if the style of pay is different,” Hifi said. “It’s just an adaptation. I know that with the French national team, I won’t have the same role as at a club level but, so far, I’ve always adapted to all situations. I hope to do the same with the national team and prove it, especially by shoosing my shots a little more.”
