Maccabi Rapyd Tel Aviv has signed 28-year-old point guard Jeff Dowtin Jr. to a two-year (1+1) contract, marking his first stint in European basketball.
Dowtin played 41 games for the Philadelphia 76ers last season, averaging 7.0 points, 2.0 assists, and shooting 40% from beyond the arc. He also impressed in the G League, putting up 24.6 points and 4 assists per game.
“I’m excited to start this new chapter and play for such a historic club and amazing fans,” he said.
Coach Oded Kattash called him a “high-potential guard.”
“He’s an athletic guard who can create shots for himself and others, with basketball intelligence that will help him adapt to European basketball. We’re confident he’ll bring a lot of energy and hunger for success.”
Dowtin Jr. was born in Upper Marlboro, Maryland — a small town that’s also home to NBA names like Victor Oladipo and Markelle Fultz.
After starring at St. John’s College High School and spending four strong years at Rhode Island, Dowtin began his pro career in the G League in 2020. He’s since had NBA stints with Golden State, Milwaukee, Orlando, Toronto, and most recently, Philadelphia.
He now joins former NBA teammates Lonnie Walker and Oshae Brissett at Maccabi Tel Aviv as he takes his game to Europe for the first time.
