Bayern Munich has secured a major addition to its backcourt, signing Lithuanian national team guard Rokas Jokubaitis to a three-year deal through 2028.
The 24-year-old joins from Maccabi Tel Aviv, where he averaged 12.6 points per game in the EuroLeague last season after three years with FC Barcelona.
“I’m grateful to everyone who made this move possible,” said Jokubaitis, currently preparing for EuroBasket with Lithuania. “Bayern is a big club that’s grown quickly in basketball. I’ve heard great things, especially from my good friend Oscar da Silva, who helped me decide. The coach and management showed interest early, and I want to take responsibility here. The goal is the EuroLeague playoffs and, of course, national titles.”
A standout talent from Klaipeda, Jokubaitis debuted for Žalgiris Kaunas at 17 in the Lithuanian League and at 18 in the EuroLeague, nearing his 200th game in the competition (193 so far, 6.6 ppg, 39.8% from three). Drafted 34th overall by Oklahoma City in 2021 (rights traded to the New York Knicks), he played in the NBA Summer League before signing with Barcelona, winning both the Spanish League and Copa del Rey.
Bayern sporting director Dragan Tarlac praised Jokubaitis as “one of Europe’s top young point guards” who “chose Bayern over the NBA,” citing his leadership, court vision, and winning mentality.
