Baskonia has officially announced the signing of Guinean big man Mamadi Diakite (1997, Conakry), who arrives in Vitoria-Gasteiz on a two-year contract, running through the summer of 2027.

Standing at 2.06 meters, Diakite reinforces the interior rotation of the Basque side after spending last season with the Valley Suns in the NBA G League.

There, he posted averages of 13.6 points, 8.4 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and a PIR of 19.9 across the regular season, underlining his versatility and consistency in the paint.

The forward-center’s career path began in the NCAA with the University of Virginia Cavaliers, where he played a crucial role in their 2019 NCAA Championship run.

He later transitioned to the NBA, making his debut with the Milwaukee Bucks and earning a championship ring during the 2020–21 season. Subsequent years saw him gain experience with various NBA and G League franchises, continuing to develop his skillset and physical presence.
