The Real Madrid staff have their eye open on what the market may offer

Real Madrid coach Sergio Scariolo didn’t rule out the possibility of his team signing another player – especially a guard – to become even deeper for the upcoming season.

“We’ll start the season like that, and we’re open to a signing because, I’m not going to lie, there have been talks with a few players in those positions (point guard, shooting guard) that haven’t come to fruition for various reasons,” Scariolo said to AS. One of these players could be 2025 EuroBasket standout Jordan Loyd, who was in talks with Real Madrid before moving to Anadolu Efes.

“We’re open to what happens in the market, but we’re convinced we can compete right now, especially if the injured players recover in time. A key player in that position, like [Alberto] Abalde, hasn’t even trained with the team,” Scariolo added.

Scariolo saw new signing Theo Maledon suffering a thigh injury and being ruled out indefinitely. The Blancos now have four guards available: Facu Campazzo, Andres Feliz, newcomer David Kramer and captain Sergio Llull.

The new season officially starts for Real Madrid Saturday (27/9) in the Spanish SuperCup semifinal against La Laguna Tenerife.
