Olympiacos escaped from Buesa Arena with a win against Baskonia, a perfect start to the season that had two main ingredients: a near-perfect 31/32 from the free throw line and the great numbers of Nikola Milutinov and Sasha Vezenkov.
After scoring 24 points and grabbing 13 rebounds, the former MVP described Milutinov as one of the best centers in the Euroleague: “Not that he is my friend, but he is one of the best centers in the Euroleague. He is very important to us.”
Nikola Milutinov was also satisfied with Olympiacos’ victory over Baskonia in Vitoria in the Euroleague premiere: “It’s very important to start with a win in the Euroleague”, as the Serbian center said.
Nikola Milutinov was one of the “red-whites” top players and finished the game with 12 points (4/4pts, 4/7dps), 14 rebounds, 1 steal, and 27 PIR in just under 25 minutes of participation (24:42’’). At the end of the match, the Serbian center spoke to the Euroleague TV camera and initially emphasized that it was an ideal start for Olympiacos: “It’s a very good start, and starting with a win in the Euroleague is very important. Anyone who has played in Vitoria knows that Baskonia is a very tough opponent at home. We did it, we got the win, and that’s what counts.”
Regarding the quality of Olympiacos’ roster, Milutinov added: “We need all the players, there is a lot of quality and everyone is needed in every game.”
