Real Madrid got the win against Olympiacos, but that wasn’t what made Giorgos Bartzokas mad. The Greek head coach didn’t like at all how his team conceded a -12 differential against a team that has the same goals.
“Their second half was very good compared to ours. Our shot selection was terrible, as we lacked patience and failed to execute our offense. Real Madrid applied physicality to the limit of fouls, and they played really hard in offensive rebounding. We didn’t deserve to win. And in the end, it was a silly approach for us; the difference really counts in European basketball. We need to consider again how to play better in games like this”.
Asked about how mad he got at Fournier in the last minute of the game, Bartozkas spoke again about how terribly his team finished the game. “It’s not only that he didn’t defend the last three-pointer, but it was like the game was over when we didn’t have a chance to win, and the difference matters. We needed to finish the game differently”.
