Evan Fournier opened up about his relationship with Olympiacos, revealing his intention to spend the rest of his playing days with the Reds.
“Well, I feel really good at the club. I settled in completely, and my transition went pretty well. It’s true that everything happened very quickly for me when I signed,” he mentioned in a recent interview with TVMonaco.
The French winger previously played 723 NBA games, from 2012 and his selection as the 20th overall pick of the annual draft until he decided to switch to the Reds in 2024. The Boston Celtics, Denver Nuggets, Detroit Pistons, New York Knicks, and Orlando Magic were his stops in the league.
“It was a bit strange in the beginning. When you build a whole career in one place for 12 years and then you change completely, you start from scratch at 32, it’s strange,” he talked about moving on from the North American league.
Last July, he penned a contract extension with Olympiacos.
“I feel very good here and I want to finish my career here,” he said, “I don’t know if that’s going to happen, but for me that’s the goal.”
“The goal was to win. We didn’t do it, so I can’t leave until the goal is achieved,” he added, referring to lifting the EuroLeague trophy after his first bid ended up in third place in the Final Four 2025.
Early in his second year, he is currently dealing with a left foot injury and is considered questionable for the upcoming clashes with Dubai in Round 3 of the EuroLeague Regular Season on Friday and rival Panathinaikos Aktor in Round 2 of Greece’s Stoiximan GBL on Sunday. Both contests are scheduled to be played in the Peace and Friendship Stadium, SEF.
