It wasn’t certain until the last second, but Panathinaikos had it done. The Greek team won its second game of the season after defeating Baskonia in Buesa Arena by 86-84.
Getting away wins is huge in Euroleague, and that’s what the 2023-24 Euroleague champs managed to do in Vitoria after leading for the whole game.
Baskonia only led the scoreboard once for the whole game and almost “stole” the game, but Kendrick Nunn had a different opinion.
With the score tied at 84-84 with only four seconds to play, Nunn made the winning bucket at the buzzer and, with 30 points, gave his team the win. Juancho Hernangómez had another great night with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
Tadas Sedekerskis (10 points and 10 rebounds) was the best player for the home team, with Luwawu-Cabarrot (16 points) and Trent Forrest (15 p.) also giving good minutes but not enough for coach Galbiati’s team.
Baskonia has yet to win an official game after the major changes made this season and received the first whistles from its fans, who asked for -and got- a reaction from their players after a very poor third quarter.
Still it was not enough…
