Fenerbahce Beko president Sadettin Saran addressed the contract status of head coach Sarunas Jasikevicius.

“We will do everything in our power to extend his contract,” he mentioned during a press conference on Wednesday.

Taking over midway through the 2023-24 season, the 49-year-old expert penned a deal lasting until the end of the 2025-26 season.

With Jasikevicius on an expiring contract, Fener started the defense of the EuroLeague championship with one win in four games and the defense of the Turkiye Sigorta Basketbol Super Ligi championship at 2-1. Opening official fixtures for the new season, the Istanbul outfit added the Presidential Cup to the list of recent titles, alongside the EuroLeague, BSL, and ING Turkiye Kupasi.

At the bottom half of a double-game week, Fenerbahce hosts FC Bayern Munich in Ulker Sports Arena on Thursday. From Round 5 of the EuroLeague Regular Season to Round 4 of the BSL Regular Season, the next game is against Galatasaray MCT Technic in Turkcell Basketball Development Center on Sunday. The same Istanbul venue will host a EuroLeague Round 6 clash opposite Anadolu Efes next Friday.

The Kaunas native started his coaching career with hometown Zalgiris, taking over as head coach between 2016 and 2020. From 2020 until 2023, he served as the play-caller of FC Barcelona. On track to match a decorated playing career, including four EuroLeague championships, his coaching efforts have extended from last season’s triumph in Abu Dhabi to numerous domestic titles from Turkiye to Spain and Lithuania.
