Kendrick Nunn scored 26 points, newcomer Richaun Holmes, on his birthday, had his best game so far with Panathinaikos with a double-double (24 p. 10 r.), and the Greeks got what they wanted.
Despite flashes from the home side, the final score was 91-85 with ASVEL proving more than feisty.
Nando De Colo, with 18 points, led a balanced effort as the French side had four more players in double digits and didn’t back down.
Panathinaikos was in control for most of the game; however, ASVEL got a 39-38 lead in the second period. Still, the hosts closed the quarter with a 10-0 run (49-39) behind 18 first-half points by Nunn and jumped to a 66-53 advantage near the end of the third period.
Still, ASVEL kept things close with an 8-0 run (68-62) and made it a three-point game (72-69, 78-75, 84-81, 87-83), but couldn’t get over the hump.
Thanks to this result, Panathinaikos has a solid 3-1 record, while the guests dropped to 1-3.
