By Eurohoops team/ info@eurohoops.net

Carsen Edwards scored 24 points, Saliou Niang added 10, and it was enough for Virtus to get the 77-73 over AS Monaco.

Nikola Mirotic, with 16 points, was the top scorer of the guests, who shot just 33% in two-pointers. Mike James had 10 points, making seven out of seven free throws and zero out of seven two-pointers.

Both teams are now tied at 2-2 in the EuroLeague standings.

Virtus kept the lead for most of the first half, but Monaco trailed by three (37-34) at halftime, and anything was possible.

That sense was even stronger when Monaco tied the score at 48 with three minutes left in the third period.

And at that point, Virtus got things under control. The Italians entered the last quarter up by six (59-53), making it a 10-point game (63-53), and even created a 13-point advantage (72-59).

With the game on the line, Monaco, thanks to an 8-0 run trimmed the lead to four (74-70) with five straight points by Alpha Diallo and 95 seconds left for the final buzzer.

Edwards made two free throws (76-70), Matthew Strazel replied with three more from Monaco’s side (76-73), and Daniel Hackett missed a three.

Monaco had one last shot, Nemanja Nedovic also missed, and Alessandro Pajola got fouled and iced the game (77-73) from the free-throw line.
