ASVEL could follow ALBA Berlin’s path and leave the Euroleague to join the NBA project in Europe. Following information from the local newspaper “Le Progres” relayed by BeBasket, the French team is reportedly considering leaving the Euroleague to join the BCL in the 2026-27 season.

A move that also financially benefits a club not experiencing its best sporting moment in the Euroleague, since the cost of competing in the BCL is lower.

However, the arrival in the Basketball Champions League would be, first and foremost, a way to maintain a direct connection with FIBA, with an eye on the NBA’s project in Europe.

ASVEL may not be the only team to take this path in the coming months. Tony Parker’s team has not signed a new contract with the Euroleague; the current one expires in the summer of 2026, and that could make things easier.

ASVEL has competed in the modern Euroleague for a total of 10 seasons, and in recent years, they have not achieved good results.

Tony Parker recently stated that FIBA, the Euroleague, and the NBA should cooperate and collaborate in a single European league.
