Confirming a report by Eurohoops, Jared Butler officially penned his contract with Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet on Wednesday night.
The Belgrade outfit announced his addition on Thursday morning, noting a pending medical evaluation to formally complete the signing. Upon being cleared, he will become available for head coach Sasa Obradovic.
Butler, 25, is expanding his career to the EuroLeague following 149 NBA appearances over the last four seasons and an NCAA championship as the Final Four Most Outstanding Player with Baylor in 2021. His NBA run was launched by being selected by the New Orleans Pelicans with the 40th overall pick of the annual draft in 2021. He went on to play for the Utah Jazz, Oklahoma City Thunder, Washington Wizards, and Philadelphia 76ers. In his 2024-25 journey, he averaged 9.0 points, 3.7 assists, and 1.8 rebounds per contest. In the recent Preseason, he suited up with the Phoenix Suns but was waived shortly before the start of the Regular Season.
Devonte’ Graham, Tyson Carter, Jasiel Rivero, Isaiah Canaan, and Joel Bolomboy are all stuck on the Zvezda injury list, heading to Round 6 of the 2025-26 EuroLeague Regular Season and a clash with Baskonia in Belgrade Arena on Thursday. In contrast, team captain Ognjen Dobric is set for his season debut after recovering from an injury with the senior national team of Serbia in EuroBasket 2025.
The current 3-2 W-L tally ties the Serbian club with eight other teams between third and 11th on the standings.
