Dealing with several injuries over recent weeks, Olympiacos has been linked with several possible signings, but head coach Giorgos Bartzokas rejected the majority of the reports.
“I haven’t asked for anything,” stressed the 60-year-old play-caller on Thursday, before a trip to Germany to face FC Bayern Munich in SAP Garden on Friday.
“I would like to tell you that, based on what I’ve been reading since the beginning of the summer, I believe that 5% of all the transfers that Olympiacos made were based on real interest from us. I would urge people to be a little more skeptical when they read that Olympiacos has signed a player,” added Bartzokas.
In Round 6 of the 2025-26 Regular Season of the EuroLeague, the Reds hope to improve on their current 3-2 record. Captain Kostas Papanikolaou is unavailable due to a left knee injury. He was hurt during team practice on Wednesday and subsequently ruled out for the next continental challenge.
Keenan Evans and Moustapha Fall are also on the injury list, but Evan Fournier, Thomas Walkup, and Shaquielle McKissic are returning to action. Specifically, the latter is projected to make his season debut, while Fournier and Walkup played in Greece’s Stoiximan GBL Regular Season Round 3 on Sunday.
Returning to the domestic league, Olympiacos faces Mykonos Betsson on Sunday, before the next double-game week on the EuroLeague schedule, with AS Monaco and Hapoel IBI Tel Aviv visiting the Peace and Friendship Stadium, SEF, on Wednesday and Friday.
