Virtus Bologna achieved another win in the EuroLeague, defeating Panathinaikos 92-75 in front of their fans.
Ergin Ataman did not finish this game on the bench of the Greek giant. He caused a commotion in the first half, and everything escalated in the second half when he was ejected for two technical fouls, dissatisfied with the referees’ decisions.
This did not wake up his team, which suffered a rather convincing defeat in northern Italy. Besides the 2-4 scoreline, Panathinaikos never led for a second, so Dusko Ivanovic’s team fully deserved their new victory in the elite competition.
Carsen Edwards played another excellent scoring game with 22 points, while Matt Morgan added 15, one more than Alen Smailagic. Alessandro Pajola delivered an outstanding all-around performance with seven points, seven assists, and ten rebounds.
For the visitors, Kendrick Nunn scored 19 points but only caught fire at the end when it was all over. Alongside him, T.J. Shorts added 15, and Cedi Osman had 14 points.
After the match in Bologna, both teams have a 4-2 record. In the next round, Virtus will travel to Kaunas to face Žalgiris, while Panathinaikos will compete against Maccabi in front of their fans.
