Zalgiris places 31-year-old Nigel Williams-Goss on the injury list

By Johnny Askounis/ info@eurohoops.net

Following an early exit in Round 6 of the 2025-26 EuroLeague Regular Season, Nigel Williams-Goss was officially sidelined by Zalgiris due to a hamstring injury on Sunday.

The 31-year-old point guard started for Kaunas outfit but lasted only 85 seconds in Palau Blaugrana against FC Barcelona on Thursday. He reported pain in his leg and did not return. Despite his unavailability, the team coached by Tomas Masiulis pulled away and secured an away win to improve to 4-2.

After returning to Lithuania, Williams-Goss underwent medical tests to confirm a hamstring injury. He was subsequently placed on the injury list for the next few continental and domestic fixtures and will be monitored by the Zalgiris medical team. A specific timeline for his return depends on progress in the ensuing rehab.

The former champion started his sixth expedition in Europe’s premier club continental competition with 11.5 points per contest over six appearances.

Besides Dovydas Giedraitis in wrist surgery rehab and projected to be sidelined for at least a few more weeks, the rest of the squad is available for a Betsson LKL Regular Season clash with Gargzdai on Sunday, before the next EuroLeague double-game week with Virtus Bologna and LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne in Zalgirio Arena on Tuesday and Thursday.

With four wins in six outings, Zalgiris is tied with five other teams in second place, one game behind EuroLeague leader Hapoel IBI Tel Aviv. At the domestic level, a 4-1 tally is tied with Rytas in first place.
