Euroleague Basketball made an announcement about AS Monaco violating financial regulations.
As confirmed on Monday, La Roca Team has been prohibited from registering new players and coaches, pending a final decision by the Financial Panel.
Per the press release: “The Management Control Commission (MCC), the independent commission that reviews the financial performance of the clubs and their compliance with the relevant regulations has referred an adjudicatory proceeding to the Financial panel against AS Monaco, as per the infringement of Articles 32.a) 32.c) and 32.d) of the Euroleague Basketball Disciplinary Code, relating to overdue payables, failure to provide required documentation, and lack of cooperation.
Pending a final decision on the matter, the Finance Panel has imposed a provisional measure prohibiting AS Monaco from registering new players and coaches. This measure is effective immediately.”
The sanction disrupted the team coached by Vassilis Spanoulis, currently sitting 6-3 in the 2025-26 EuroLeague Regular Season, tied with Olympiacos in fourth place, one game behind co-leaders Zalgiris, Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet, and Hapoel IBI Tel Aviv. Entering a double-game week to continue a 38-game double-legged round-robin schedule, the upcoming challenges are two games in Belgrade Arena, a Round 10 clash with Partizan Mozzart Bet on Tuesday and a Round 11 fixture versus Zvezda on Thursday.
Also competing in France’s Betclic Regular Season and shy of the continental transfer ban, Monaco is on top of the standings behind a 6-1 W-L tally. The next domestic league contest is against Le Mans in Antares on Sunday.
