Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet and Olympiacos have been issued fines for offensive chants in home games of Round 9 of the 2025-26 EuroLeague Regular Season.
The latest disciplinary sanctions were announced by Euroleague Basketball on Friday.
Per the press release: “Euroleague Basketball has announced the following disciplinary decision pertaining to incidents that occurred in Round 9 of the 2025-26 EuroLeague Regular Season.
- Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade has been sanctioned with a fine of €7,000, for the offensive chants performed by its fans on occasion of the game Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade– Panathinaikos Aktor Athens, under Article 29.2.f) of the Euroleague Basketball Disciplinary Code.
- Olympiacos Piraeus has been sanctioned with a fine of €6,000, for the offensive chants performed by its fans on occasion of the game Olympiacos Piraeus – Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade, under Article 29.2.f) of the Euroleague Basketball Disciplinary Code.”
Meanwhile, Zvezda already completed the fourth two-game week on the 2025-26 schedule with a win over AS Monaco in Belgrade Arena on Thursday, but Olympiacos is set to face EA7 Emporio Armani Milan in Unipol Forum later Friday. In the standings of Europe’s premier club competition, the team coached by Sasa Obradovic is tied with Hapoel IBI Tel Aviv in first place, behind a 8-3 W-L tally, with the team coached by Giorgos Bartzokas at 7-3 and a pending opportunity to match the leaders.
Beyond the EuroLeague, the Belgrade outfit sits fourth in Group B of the AdmiralBet ABA League Regular Season with a 3-2 record. A 6-0 domestic start has the Piraeus outfit on top of Greece’s Stoiximan GBL standings.
Fine on Mihai Silvasan
Euroleague Basketball also confirmed a €3,000 fine on the head coach of U-BT Cluj-Napoca, Mihai Silvasan, on Friday.
Per the press release: “Euroleague Basketball has announced the following disciplinary decision pertaining to incidents that occurred in Round 6 of the 2025-26 BKT EuroCup Regular Season.
Mr. Mihai Silvasan, head coach of U-BT Cluj-Napoca has been sanctioned with a fine of €3,000, for committing acts representing a lack of respect against the officiating crew on occasion of the game U-BT Cluj-Napoca – Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana, under Article 27.2.b) of the Euroleague Basketball Disciplinary Code.”
Competing in Group A of the BKT EuroCup Regular Season, the Romanian club currently ranks fourth with a 4-3 record.
