Peppe Poeta started his tenure as Milan’s head coach with a road win over Maccabi, and he acknowledged what came before him.
As he said in the post-game press conference: “I just want to thank and dedicate this win to the ownership and to Ettore Messina, they gave me confidence and this opportunity, and it’s their win”.
As he elaborated: “It’s his win because it was his work until two days ago, so I’m not getting any credit for that, but I love to see these guys play and I think we have a long way ahead, and if we play this way, we can enjoy”.
Speaking about the game, he added: “I’m super happy. I want to say the guys showed up with a great performance. We shared the ball very good on offense. We played a great second-half defense”.
On the flipside, Maccabi coach Oded Kattash admitted that “it was a tough night for us. Bad loss about especially the way… I mean, in the third quarter, we couldn’t really stop the flow and make it tough sometimes. The way we started the game was bad for us. We didn’t start with the right sense of urgency. We were not aggressive enough. We couldn’t slow them down”.
