Olympiacos suffered its fifth failure in the Euroleague, losing away to Crvena Zvezda 91-80 in Round 13.
After the game, at the media conference, Georgios Bartzokas, the coach of the Greek powerhouse, also spoke.
One of the questions directed at him concerned Jared Butler — he was seen as a potential new player for Olympiacos, but ultimately joined Zvezda.
“Yes, we offered him a contract. He didn’t ask for a spot in the starting five, and we never discussed that with him. His agent chose Crvena Zvezda because they didn’t have many players in the guard positions. However, the situation has changed; we’ve lost Evans, and now Ntilikina.
We are still active in the market, but it’s not easy to find a player who understands what the EuroLeague is and who can contribute.”
After the loss in Belgrade, Olympiacos holds a record of 8-5, and in the next round will host Fenerbahce.
