Olympiacos has officially announced the signing of Monte Morris, who will play with the Piraeus team until the end of season.
In his NBA career, the American guard had 426 appearances, averaging 9.4 points, 2.3 rebounds and 3.6 assists. This year he played in 6 games with the Indiana Pacers, averaging 3 points, 1.2 rebounds and 1.5 assists.
After playing in NCCA with the Iowa State Cyclones, the point guard had a notable career in the NBA playing with the Denver Nuggets, the Washington Wizards, the Detroit Pistons, the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Phoenix Suns and the Indiana Pacers, his last team before his first overseas adventure.
In his new team, Morris will find international stars like Evan Fournier and Sasha Vezenkov who until recently played in the NBA, as Olympiacos is a perennial EuroLeague title contender.
The club from Piraeus sits in 7th place with an 8-5 record after winning six of its last ten games.
The struggle to consisntently win, along with the unfortunate injury to Keenan Evans (a torn Achilles in his very first game after 533 days out), pushed Olympiacos back into the market, and the Greek team is still looking for a boost in the center position, if they can find the right piece for the puzzle.
