It wasn’t easy, but ultimately Real Madrid got the win and made one more step forward.
The “Whites” beat Baskonia 94-87 and improved their record to 9-6, while the losing side dropped to 5-10.
Mario Hezonia scored 17 points, Facundo Campazzo added 16 and five assists, while Theo Maledon added 15 for the winners.
On the other side, Markus Howard, with 22 points and 5/8 threes, had a big night. Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot also played great, scoring 20 points; however, it was not enough.
The first half was almost totally balanced, with the hosts getting a 42-39 lead thanks to a three-pointer by Andres Feliz almost at the buzzer.
However, Madrid took a 58-45 lead at the start of the third period with a 16-6 run and managed to keep its distance, closing the quarter up by 11 (71-60).
Still, Baskonia even got the lead back after three straight three-pointers by Howard (77-76) with six minutes left in the game, and everything started from scratch.
That was the cue for an 11-0 run by Madrid, including six points by Hezonia, which gave them an 87-77 lead that ultimately decided the game.
