Barcelona and Baskonia played a game to remember — without a doubt one of the best of the season.
It took three overtimes for Xavi Pascual’s side to prevail on a record-breaking night, with Kevin Punter emerging as the hero for the hosts.
The U.S. guard poured in 43 points and earned EuroLeague Round 17 MVP honors with a PIR of 40. After the game, he praised the fans for pushing the team toward another victory at Palau Blaugrana.
“Good fans. It was a dogfight — they saw us battling the whole time and kept cheering us on. We made some big plays, got key stops, kept the momentum going and kept the fans involved. In the end, we managed to pull it out. It was a tough game,” Punter said.
With Punter leading the way, Barcelona recorded their eighth straight win in all competitions, including a fifth consecutive EuroLeague victory, improving to 12-5 and moving into second place in the standings.
Punter continues to show exceptional form, averaging 25.2 points over his last five EuroLeague games.
