With team owner Dimitris Giannakopoulos revealing the possibility of a major midseason signing for Panathinaikos Aktor, head coach Ergin Ataman confirmed, sharing the process toward an addition to his roster.
“This is about the president and the front office. I am not focused on that,” the 59-year-old tactician explained during a media session on Monday.
“I mentioned our mistake after the previous game. Then the club started looking, since the president is always ready to help. After what I told him, that we were missing something important, of course, he reacted. I did not insist. I said we were missing something and, of course, he is looking for the best solution. But of course, it is not easy,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Greens are entering the next double-game week of the 2025-26 EuroLeague Regular Season, welcoming EA7 Emporio Armani Milan on Tuesday and Virtus Bologna on Thursday in Telekom Center Athens.
“The club is looking into this, is in the market, but we are focused on the next two games,” Ataman stressed about his approach.
With Konstantinos Mitoglou (right hamstring) and Mathias Lessort (left ankle) remaining sidelined, Nikos Rogkavopoulos practiced without limitations to become available for continental action, after missing Round 13 of Greece’s Stoiximan GBL Regular Season on Sunday due to a minor calf injury.
At the midway point of the 38-game regular-season schedule, the Greek side sits 12-7 in a three-way tie between fourth and sixth place, one game behind co-leaders Valencia and Hapoel IBI Tel Aviv.
