Dubai recorded a victory in the first game of Round 21 of the EuroLeague, defeating Fenerbahce on its home floor by a score of 92–81.
The most efficient player on the winning team was McKinley Wright with 22 points and four assists, Kenan Kamenjas added 20 with 15 rebounds, while Dwayne Bacon scored 15 and Mfiondu Kabengele contributed 14. It should be noted that the host team once again played without Nate Mason and Dzanan Musa.
Fenerbahçe could not be saved even by Wade Baldwin, who had 21 points and five assists, and he was joined in double figures by Talen Horton-Tucker with 15 points and Mikael Jantunen with 13. Bonzie Colson had to leave the game due to an injury already in the first half.
It was a great game to watch, although it was somewhat slowed down by the first quarter, which, due to interruptions, lasted almost 40 minutes – in the end, the clash finished after a little more than 135 minutes.
Dubai led the whole game, at one point by as many as 15, but the Turkish team came back to within four (73–69). Still, Dubai repelled this surge on the wings of Wright and Kamenjas and in the end, without any late drama, handed Fenerbahçe its first loss after four straight wins in the elite competition.
After this game, Dubai’s record is 10–11, and in the next round Jurica Golemac’s team will host Virtus Bologna. Fenerbahce now stands at 13 wins and seven losses, and in eight days the European champion will host Valencia, one of the EuroLeague leaders.
