Virtus Bologna releases Brandon Taylor from his contract on Tuesday.

The Italian side granted a request by the 32-year-old point guard to become a free agent and pursue a new professional opportunity, as noted.

Joining Vu Nere late in the 2024-25 season, his contributions went into capturing Italy’s LBA UnipolSai championship in June.

Staying to start his 2025-26 journey, Taylor introduced himself to the EuroLeague with 2.5 points, 1.5 assists, 0.5 rebounds, and 0.2 steals per contest over 11 appearances, including one start for the team coached by Dusko Ivanovic. Domestically, he went from 5.5 points and 2.8 assists per game in the Playoffs 2025, to 4.1 points and 3.3 assists per contest in the 2025-26 Regular Season.

Following his NCAA run with Utah from 2013 to 2016, he took his talents to Hungary, Romania, France, China, and Spain, before his third return to Italy. Prior to Europe’s premier club competition, he was featured in 18 FIBA Europe games with UnaHotels Reggio Emilia, Steaua Bucuresti, and Alba Fehervar.

As for Virtus, the focus is on the next continental and domestic challenges, hoping to build on a current 10-11 tally in EuroLeague’s Regular Season, which is one game shy of the Play-In Showdown zone, ahead of a Round 22 clash against Dubai in Coca-Cola Arena on Thursday. Also, a 12-2 record is tied with Germani Brescia in first place of the LBA standings, with NutriBullet Treviso up next as the Round 16 opponent in Virtus Arena on Sunday.
