Bayern Munich continued their excellent performances recently, defeating Panathinaikos 85-78 on their home court in the 22nd round of the EuroLeague.
Justinian Jessup had a great game for the Germans, finishing the match with 16 points. Andreas Obst added 15, including some crucial points in the final moments, while Wenyen Gabriel ended the game with 12 points.
On the other side, Cedi Osman was the best with 20 points, and Jerian Grant added 17, but the absence of Kendrick Nunn, who did not play in Munich, was felt.
Panathinaikos has been playing hot-and-cold all season, and now they’ve suffered another blow with a defeat in Munich. Even without Nunn, the visitors held the advantage for most of the game and entered the final quarter up by six points (64-58), but they stalled in the last ten minutes. Bayern started hitting everything, Obst got hot, and it was precisely his two threes in the final minute that sealed the fate of the Athens team.
Bayern now has a record of 8-14, and their next game will be at home against Partizan. On the other hand, Panathinaikos has fallen into the play-in zone with a 13-9 record and will seek a win in the next round at home against Baskonia.
