Bayern Munich have improved since the arrival of Svetislav Pešić, and that was once again clear today.

The Germans defeated Valencia Basket 93-89, a team from the upper part of the EuroLeague standings, by a margin that doesn’t pay justice to what happened during the game.

The win leaves Bayern with a 9–15 record and keeps their play-in hopes alive. The Spanish side, meanwhile, drop to 15–9 after losing three of their last four games in the competition.

Fittingly, a former Valencia player was the standout performer for the home team: Vladimir Lučić finished with 19 points to become the game’s second-leading scorer. Justinian Jessup (16 points) and Neno Dimitrijević (12) were also key contributors to the victory.

The game’s top scorer was Kam Taylor, who once again shined with 20 points, but his performance was not enough to give the visitors a real chance of winning.

Despite trailing at the end of the first quarter (22–24), Bayern quickly took control of the game.

Closing the first half with a solid 53–44 lead was only the beginning, as the home advantage soon grew to fifteen points at 64–49.

From that moment on, Bayern simply had to manage the comeback attempts by Pedro Martínez’s team, who never truly threatened to win the game.
