A major setback for Virtus. The Italian team has announced that Alessandro Pajola, one of the veterans in the locker room, will be out indefinitely with an injury.

Following persistent problems with his left knee, Virtus Bologna subjected the Italian player to several tests. They have finally determined that he has a tear in the external meniscus.

Virtus made a statement about his situation, pointing out that there’s no confirmed date to return:

Virtus Pallacanestro Bologna announces that Alessandro Pajola, due to persistent pain and functional limitations in his left knee, has undergone further specific tests, which have revealed a tear in the external meniscus. The player will consequently undergo surgery in the coming days. Recovery time will be determined following the surgery.

Pajola, 26, has played 24 games in this season in the Euroleague, averaging 4 points, 2.7 rebounds and 4.2 assists per night. The point guard has been instrumental in Virtus’ recent success, including the Eurocup title in 2022.
