Following a brilliant performance for Valencia in Round 27 of the 2025-26 EuroLeague Regular Season, Montero was named Most Valuable Player of the Round.
Euroleague Basketball formally confirmed the 22-year-old guard’s selection on Saturday.
Per the press release: “One of the EuroLeague’s brightest young talents delivered his finest performance yet in Round 27, as Valencia Basket guard Jean Montero turned in a career night in his team’s 94-104 overtime road win at Maccabi Rapyd Tel Aviv to claim MVP of the Round honors.
Montero finished with a career-high 39 PIR – the best mark of Round 27 – after scoring a personal-best 29 points on 7-of-10 shooting from two-point range, 2-of-6 from beyond the arc and a perfect 9-of-9 from the free-throw line. He also tied his career high with 8 assists, collected 4 rebounds and drew 7 fouls. The 2024-25 BKT EuroCup Rising Star earned MVP of the Round honors for the first time in his career, becoming just the fifth Valencia player to receive the accolade, following Dusko Savanovic, Erick Green, Chris Jones and three-time winner Bojan Dubljevic.
Sasha Vezenkov of Olympiacos Piraeus recorded a PIR of 31 in his team’s 109-77 victory over Virtus Bologna. Vezenkov tallied 20 points on 7-of-8 two-pointers, 1-of-3 three-pointers and 3-of-4 free throws, while adding 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, 1 block and drawing 5 fouls.
Mike James of AS Monaco posted a PIR of 29 in a 91-82 road loss to FC Bayern Munich. James scored 30 points on 8-of-12 two-pointers, 3-of-7 three-pointers and 5-of-7 free throws, while contributing 4 rebounds, 4 assists and drawing 7 fouls.
Jordan Loyd of Anadolu Efes Istanbul, with a PIR of 27, and Azuolas Tubelis of Zalgiris Kaunas, who posted a PIR of 26, round out the top individual performances of Round 27. Loyd recorded 19 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, zero turnovers and 7 fouls drawn in Efes’ 92-82 win over Zalgiris. In the same game, Tubelis finished with 22 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 block and 5 fouls drawn.
Individual highs: Mike James, Monaco, 30 points
James led all scorers in Round 27 with 30 points. Kendrick Nunn of Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens leads the league overall at 19.43 points per game, narrowly ahead of Nadir Hifi of Paris Basketball (19.40 PPG).
Kam Taylor of Valencia and Armoni Brooks of EA7 Emporio Armani Milan topped all rebounders with 10 apiece. Nikola Milutinov of Olympiacos remains the competition’s leading rebounder, averaging 7.5 boards per game.
Jean Montero, Thomas Walkup of Olympiacos, Saben Lee of Efes and Codi Miller-McIntyre of Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade each handed out 8 assists in Round 27, the most of any player. Miller-McIntyre leads the league overall with 6.9 assists per game.
Six players shared the round-high with 3 steals each: Talen Horton-Tucker of Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul; Chima Moneke of Crvena Zvezda; Maccabi Rapyd Tel Aviv teammates Jimmy Clark and Roman Sorkin; Dylan Osetkowski of Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade; and Mbaye Ndiaye of LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne. Aleksa Avramovic of Dubai Basketball (1.50 SPG) edged past Alpha Diallo of Monaco (1.48 SPG) for the overall league lead.
Daniel Theis of Monaco and Dan Oturu of Hapoel IBI Tel Aviv each recorded 3 blocks in Round 27, the most this round. Walter Tavares of Real Madrid leads the EuroLeague in blocks, averaging 1.9 per game in the 2025-26 season.
Armoni Brooks (11 points, 10 rebounds) and Kam Taylor (11 points, 10 rebounds) were the only players to record double-doubles in Round 27.”
