In a significant shift for the French basketball broadcasting landscape, EuroLeague TV is taking over live and on-demand coverage of both the EuroLeague and the BKT EuroCup, effective immediately. As reported by L’Equipe on Thursday, the conclusion of Round 29 of the 2025-26 EuroLeague Regular Season marked the end of the partnership with SKWEEK. The broadcasting contract was terminated prematurely due to significant unpaid fees, bringing an abrupt halt to a deal that was originally slated to run through the end of the season.
SKWEEK, which is owned by Fedcom Media, a subsidiary of FedCom, the majority shareholder of AS Monaco, has endured a tumultuous final year. The platform’s downfall was accelerated by a severe economic crisis that mirrors the financial difficulties currently facing Monaco’s La Roca Team. Throughout the winter of 2026, employees launched strikes to protest chronic salary delays, leading to major service disruptions, including the total blackout of Round 25 and several matches being aired without French commentary. Thursday night’s slate of games, highlighted by Paris’ stunning victory over Panathinaikos Aktor, served as the final broadcast for the platform.
To ensure uninterrupted coverage and avoid a total blackout for fans, Euroleague Basketball’s official digital subscription service, EuroLeague TV, will be the primary provider in France starting from next week. In a move to protect consumers, SKWEEK subscribers are expected to be granted free access to EuroLeague TV for the remainder of the season. While the primary rights agreement has collapsed, secondary sub-licensing deals with TV Monaco and the L’Equipe channel are anticipated to remain active, preserving essential free-to-air access for the French basketball community as the season moves toward its high-stakes conclusion.
