Experienced guard leaves Monaco after limited role

AS Monaco and guard David Michineau have mutually agreed to terminate the player’s contract, the club announced.

Michineau’s departure is the second for Monaco in recent days, following the club’s parting with Yoak Makondou.

In a heartfelt statement, Michineau reflected on his time with the team:

This is an emotional moment for me, as it was truly an incredible opportunity to be part of such a remarkable team. I have cherished every moment spent in the locker room, surrounded by such amazing guys. Together, we won two titles, and I think only time will allow me to fully realize how special that was.”

At some point, however, I had to accept that despite my desire and all the hard work I put in, I wouldn’t be able to take on the role I had hoped for within this team. That’s why this decision comes from the heart. I feel it’s time for me to start a new chapter in my career. The Roca Team will always hold a special place in my heart.”

This season, the experienced point guard appeared in 17 domestic games for Monaco, averaging 4.9 points per contest. In the EuroLeague, Michineau played a limited role, logging under nine minutes per game across four appearances.
