The owner of Panathinaikos had strong complaints about the refereeing in the loss to Olympiacos (86–80) at SEF in the 31st round of the EuroLeague — and not only that — and chose to express them toward EuroLeague president Dejan Bodiroga, even by taking down the banner at OAKA celebrating the 2000 trophy, which bears his image.

Dejan Bodiroga played for Panathinaikos from 1998 until 2002 and was one of the team’s top players in the EuroLeague titles in 2000 in Thessaloniki and in 2002 in Bologna (Final Four MVP).

His teammate during the second title in Bologna, Ibrahim Kutluay, commented on this decision (on “Socrates Dergi” on YouTube):

“I like Dimitris, but he makes impulsive decisions. Two weeks ago, after the away loss to Aris, he said that Ergin Ataman and the players should resign, even though there was a EuroLeague game two days later. Pavlos would be turning in his grave. He loved Dejan very much.”
