Baskonia may be out of EuroLeague postseason contention, but Paolo Galbiati’s team continues to play with intensity.
After home wins over Hapoel Tel Aviv and Real Madrid, the Vitoria side added another big scalp by defeating Maccabi Tel Aviv 101–98 in a thrilling contest at Buesa Arena, snapping the Israeli team’s four-game winning streak.
Baskonia improved to 12–24, while Maccabi fell to 18–17, taking a significant hit in the race for a postseason spot.
Timothé Luwawu-Cabarrot led the way for the winning side with 21 points, while Trent Forrest added 19 and Marquise Nowell contributed 12. Mamadi Diakite, Gytis Radzevičius, and Clément Frisch chipped in 11 points each.
On the other side, Jimmy Clark flirted with a double-double, finishing with 26 points and nine assists. Lonnie Walker followed with 23 points, while Roman Sorkin added 22 points and six rebounds. Jaylen Hoard chipped in 14 points and five boards.
Baskonia trailed 44–53 at halftime but turned the game around with a dominant fourth quarter, scoring 40 points to take control. Maccabi responded late and cut the deficit to 96–98, but Timothé Luwawu-Cabarrot and Trent Forrest sealed the win from the free-throw line, making it enough to hold off a late three-pointer from Jimmy Clark.
