A big step back three-pointer by Elie Okobo sealed the deal as Monaco got the 81-76 win over ASVEL.

It was a crucial result for the home side, which now has a 20-16 record, and remains among the play-in tournament candidates, still hoping for a playoff spot.

With just eight players available, Matthew Strazel with 22 points, Okobo with 16, and Nikola Mirotic with 14 were the top scorers.

Mike James returned to action and had five points in 25 minutes, plus five assists.

Monaco led by 15 points just before the end of the third period (64-49), but ASVEL closed the gap to 10 (64-54) entering the last quarter and even made it a two-point game (78-76) with 31 seconds left on the clock.

Still, it was not enough for the guests, who dropped to an 8-28 record and remain last in the standings despite the effort of Bryan Angola (26 p.) and Shaquille Harrison (22 p.).
