Real Madrid conquers Istanbul (69-74) in a well-deserved victory against Fenerbahçe. With Jasikevicius’s team now suffering five consecutive defeats, the standings have been turned upside down once again.
Scariolo’s team climbs into the top 3 with a 23-14 record after losses in Vitoria and Piraeus. The Italian coach emphasized the importance of this much-needed victory in the post-game press conference.
“Very satisfied. I want to congratulate my players for winning in such a tough atmosphere against such a difficult opponent. Excellent character, great personality,” commented Scariolo.
“We needed a good away win. We haven’t had much luck in some away games, losing by 1 or 2 points, and a couple of those losses weren’t exactly our fault. At this point, this victory will surely give us a boost and a bit of confidence, making us believe we are capable,” the coach added in the press conference.
“Fenerbahçe is a fantastic team, very well coached. It was a playoff atmosphere. There’s one game left, but for now I can congratulate my players,” he explained regarding the opponent and the importance of the victory.
They never stopped believing, and that showed in the tight finish. “We didn’t lose focus when we were down by seven. We tied it up quickly at the beginning of the final quarter,” he concluded.
