The defending EuroLeague champions are in trouble. After a fifth straight loss — and seventh in their last eight games — Fenerbahce is now in danger of losing home-court advantage in the Playoffs.
However, despite falling to Real Madrid in Istanbul, head coach Sarunas Jasikevicius pointed to positive signs in his team’s performance.
“The effort was really good. We played like a true team. I think it was a huge step forward for us. We couldn’t solve the post defense, we didn’t do our job in many situations and whenever we did, they found good solutions. Big game. We probably lost the details battle, but I think we took a step forward,” Jasikevicius said after the game.
After losing the second head-to-head matchup with Los Blancos, Fenerbahce has dropped to fourth place and now risks being overtaken by Hapoel Tel Aviv, which sits at 22–14 with the tie-break advantage.
