ATHENS — Alec Peters stood on the hardwood of the Telekom Center Athens, holding his daughter in his arms just minutes after the final buzzer signaled a hard-fought victory for Olympiacos over Real Madrid in the Final of the 2026 EuroLeague Final Four Athens, presented by Etihad on Sunday.

Named the Player of the Game, the emotional 31-year-old combo forward and veteran of 20 NBA games with the Phoenix Suns reflected on his long journey to capturing his second career continental crown. “I think blessing is the only word. I get to do this in front of my family,” he noted in his postgame interview with EuroLeague TV, after contributing 16 points, seven rebounds, and two assists, following a perfect shooting night in the Semifinals opposite Fenerbahce Beko on Friday. “I’ve been trying to climb this mountain since I first came into the league in 2019, and it’s just a blessing. It brings so much joy to the fans here, to ourselves, and the club. We’ve been working on this for a long time.”

The championship victory was secured by a dramatic, late-game surge from the Reds in front of their home crowd. With just 1:22 remaining, Tyrique Jones executed a powerful dunk to give Olympiacos a two-point lead, which was immediately backed by a stellar defensive stop. After Facundo Campazzo committed his fourth foul on an inbound pass, Thomas Walkup sank two free throws to double the cushion.

A chaotic final 18.8 seconds saw Trey Lyles miss a free throw, followed by Campazzo drawing a foul on a three-pointer. Campazzo made two free throws and intentionally missed the third to give Madrid another chance, but Andres Feliz missed the tying shot. Peters finally iced the game with 11.2 seconds left, hitting two clutch free throws to restore a permanent five-point lead and cement his status as a two-time EuroLeague champion.
