Weighing a departure from Real Madrid, 30-year-old Trey Lyles is expected to consider offers from elite EuroLeague clubs and potential NBA suitors

Following a standout 2025-26 season with Real Madrid, Canadian power forward Trey Lyles is likely to resume his career elsewhere, with multiple candidates aiming to secure his signature.

According to a report by Spanish outlet MARCA on Monday, the 30-year-old forward has significantly driven up his market value after averaging 13.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game in the EuroLeague, capped off by a stellar 24-point performance against Olympiacos on the losing end of the championship game of the 2026 EuroLeague Final Four Athens, presented by Etihad.

While Madrid remained highly interested in retaining Lyles, competing with rival offers poses a severe financial challenge. Outside suitors like Panathinaikos Aktor, Fenerbahce Beko, Dubai, and Hapoel IBI Tel Aviv are prepared to offer him a net salary exceeding three million euros, as noted. Due to the heavy Spanish tax system, matching such a figure would require to shell out over five million euros gross. Doing so would completely disrupt the club’s current salary structure, pushing Lyles into the exclusive top tier occupied only by foundational stars Walter Tavares and Mario Hezonja.

The Saskatoon native will also be looking toward a return to the NBA, while simultaneously considering his options in Europe’s premier club competition. Before joining Los Blancos, he built a solid ten-year tenure spanning 662 career games with the Sacramento Kings, Denver Nuggets, Utah Jazz, San Antonio Spurs, and Detroit Pistons. Coming out of Kentucky, he was selected with the 12th overall pick of the 2015 NBA Draft, presented by State Farm.
