Montenegrin standout Bojan Dubljevic has officially retired from professional basketball at age 34, concluding a magnificent European journey after his final campaign with Casademont Zaragoza. Renowned for his exceptional inside-out capabilities, the imposing forward-center leaves an indelible mark on the continental game.
Selected 59th overall by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the 2013 NBA Draft, presented by State Farm, the Niksic native saw his draft rights traverse the Atlantic through subsequent trades to the Portland Trail Blazers and eventually the New York Knicks. Despite these moves, he chose to craft his legacy entirely on European soil, transforming into one of the most reliable and feared frontcourt players of his generation.
His club career ignited in his native Montenegro with Lovcen and domestic powerhouse Buducnost VOLI, where he captured two national championships. However, his defining era unfolded over eleven historic seasons with Valencia. As team captain and a beloved club icon, Dubljevic engineered a golden era, famously hoisting Spain’s Liga Endesa championship trophy in 2017, alongside two EuroCup titles in 2014 and 2019. Individually, his trophy cabinet gleams with consecutive EuroCup Rising Star awards, Finals Most Valuable Player accolades, and 114 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague appearances.
On the international stage, he served as the proud heartbeat of the Montenegrin national team for over a decade. He guided his country through fiercely competitive campaigns at the 2013, 2017, and 2022 EuroBasket tournaments, while also spearheading their historic appearances at the 2019 and 2023 FIBA World Cups.
Following late career runs that included a season with Zenit in the VTB United League and two years in Zaragoza, Dubljevic called it a day.
