Anadolu Efes and Vincent Poirier officially parted ways on Monday.
The Turkish EuroLeague powerhouse announced the roster change following a devastating injury that prematurely ended the French center’s tenure in Istanbul. The 2.13-meter big sustained a severe Achilles tendon rupture during Game 1 of the Turkiye Sigorta Basketbol Super Ligi Semifinals against Fenerbahce Beko, an ailment requiring immediate surgery and carrying a lengthy rehabilitation timeline of eight to nine months.
With the player sidelined well into the upcoming calendar year, the management opted for a mutual separation to restructure their frontcourt rotation.

The departure concludes a two-year stint that began with high expectations when the athletic rim protector arrived from Real Madrid in June 2024. His debut campaign was highly successful, highlighted by an early triumph in the 2024 Turkish Presidential Cup. Throughout that initial year, he established himself as a premier defensive anchor, leading the entire EuroLeague in blocked shots with 1.3 per contest while contributing 9.5 points and 5.0 rebounds per game.
In contrast, his subsequent campaign was plagued by severe physical setbacks from the outset. A serious knee injury suffered during national team preparations forced him to undergo surgery, sidelined him for four months, and caused him to completely miss FIBA EuroBasket 2025. Upon returning mid-season, Poirier managed 14 EuroLeague appearances, averaging 8.0 points and 4.6 boards.
Besides his 227 EuroLeague appearances and a championship with Real Madrid in 2023, the Clamart native transitioned to the NBA in 2019. Between the Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers, he logged 32 games played before electing to return to Europe for more playing time.
