Metecan Birsen has reached an agreement with Besiktas Gain, according to Eurohoops sources.
The official announcement for the EuroLeague’s newest club competitor is expected soon, marking a massive addition to the roster ahead of the 2026–27 season.
The black-and-white team recently secured a wildcard entry following a unanimous vote by shareholders, returning to the premier continental tournament for the first time since their lone 2012–13 appearance after an impressive runner-up finish in the Turkiye Sigorta Basketbol Super Ligi.

Standing at 2.08 meters, the versatile 31-year-old Turkish forward is fresh off winning the domestic championship with archrivals Fener, whom he just helped defeat the Black Eagles in the Finals of the BSL Playoffs 2026.
Now switching sides in Istanbul, the experienced veteran brings an elite winning pedigree that features 85 career EuroLeague games, including 24 appearances during the recent 2025–26 edition. His highly decorated resume includes lifting the ultimate EuroLeague trophy in 2025 alongside six Turkish League titles captured across stints with Anadolu Efes and his boyhood academy program.
Following spells with several fellow Turkish clubs, the Istanbul native reunited with Fenerbahce in 2021. Known for efficiency in small-ball lineups and defending multiple positions, the former Nike International Junior Tournament Most Valuable Player offers is now taking his talents to Besiktas, providing immense tactical depth.
